Why Eureka?

You are probably asking yourself "Why should I choose Beth Turner to teach my child math?"

Well, the best reason is, I love working with teenagers.  Teenagers have such a wonderful outlook on life and when properly interacted with they can love to learn.  They are so full of life, but for a parent it can sometimes be difficult to break through all the "noise" that surrounds our teen.  Sometimes a carefully choosen outside influence can jumpstart an eagerness to learn and a drive to excel.  I work hard to find what interests your teen and then to help them see how all this "math" will help them achieve their goals.to help parents help their children be successful at math.

Read on to see how I can help you and your teen and to find my bio which includes my credentials and qualifications.

Is your student struggling in math?  Many students in high school struggle with algebra and geometry because they do not have a solid mathematical foundation upon which to build.  While teaching math to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders I look for the weaknesses in a child's foundation.  Usually the biggest culprits are fractions and word problems.  Fractions create the most pain and drama in a middle schoolers life.  Or sometimes a child just doesn't learn like the math books teach.  The key is to find where your child needs help and then start right there.

Maybe your child just needs help doing his homework, my homework help service will probably fit your need just right.

Maybe you are homeschooling and would like someone else to oversee your childs work.  My online classes may fit the bill.  Your child will attend class twice a week, be given homework assignments, and will take quizzes and test on a regular basis.  I will assign grades if you need or want them.  Click on the Class page tab above for a complete explanation of how the online classes work.

Maybe your child is falling behind or just simply learns best with one on one instruction. My tutoring services may be the answer.  Once or twice a week, your teen and I will meet online to work through whatever class materials you choose.  I will find and address weaknesses in your teen's math understanding.  Click on the Tutoring page tab above for a complete explanation of how online tutoring works.

Does your child get math and you would like "more" for them?  The exploration of math can be fun and can spark a love of learning in the heart of your student, but so many textbooks are dry and leech the interest right out of most students.  Are you and your teen looking for a study of math out of the ordinary?  Then let me know!  I am looking to start an unconventional class but need interested students to do so.  Email me through my Contact Me page above.

Do you want a teacher who cares about your child?   I was a homeschooling mom for 12 years and graduated our oldest daughter from homeschool back in 2010.  Ariel is now a 3.5 student at Sinclair Community College and awaits the fall where she will be transferring to Huntington University to study animation.  Ariel is an artist and homeschooling a "lefty" and a totally right brained child was a challenge.  It was while I taught her math that I discovered not all children learn the same.  I did lots of research into learning styles and how the brain works.  To make a long story short, she finally finished Algebra 1 and 2 before heading off to college!  Yipee!!  Our second daughter is the more typical student when it comes to math.  She does it because she has to.  She has been in a private school for the last couple of years while I taught math and computers at a local high school.  Why do you care about all this?  Well, I find great satisfaction in watching a student have the all elusive "Eureka!" moment and I will bring that to the online table when teaching your student!

My credentials:  I have a BS in Systems Analysis from Miami University and have taught math at both highschool and college levels for years.  I have taught in homeschool co-ops and have tutored individual students.  For the last two years I have taught pre-algebra and computer classes in a local high school.  I may not have a Masters degree but I have compassion and patience.  Children need someone who cares and will have the patience to help them through the rough patches.  That is why I am offering my own online classes.

                                                         Not all children love math,

                                                         Not all children get math,

but I firmly believe that with a little patience and
                                                    innovative explanation,

ALL children can succeed in math!
